Life can present itself with challenging situations that can overwhelm our capacity to cope. When you have a physical illness what's the first thing you do? Go to the doctor! If you're suffering from a mental health illness, seek relief and find a good mental health professional. Depression, PTSD, anxiety, pre-marriage/marriage/Life Adjustment counseling, ADHD, and addiction are just a few examples of the particular areas I can assist you with in therapy. I use a broad mix of evidence based therapeutic techniques that are modified to each of your personal needs and desires to include: EMDR and DBT.
Therapy will assist you with: drawing on your strengths, increasing your knowledge about your diagnosis, achieving a voice to influence over decisions that affect your life, so you can have the opportunity to move forward with ease and confidence
Education:
I graduated from the University of Spring Arbor in Michigan with a Master’s Degree in Social Work. I also attended Western Michigan University - SPADA program specializing in substance use disorders. I currently a member of the National Association of Social Work (NASW). I am trained in utilizing Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) which is a therapeutic approach that has been scientifically proven as effective in the treatment of: PTSD, grief, anxiety, addiction, physical/sexual abuse, phobias and other conditions. “EMDR can be thought of as a neurologically based therapy that helps a person see disturbing material in a new and less distressing way” (www.emdria.org, 2014).
